Jump on the Bandwagon
Feel free to join me on the Carson Coffman bandwagon. It's pretty roomy, and I've been driving it all by myself for the past six weeks. Nevermind that the wheels are old and clearly second-class, this wagon is a fighter, and it rides smart.
I'm pretty sure this is what Snyder was hoping the NU game would look like. Not the score, necessarily, but I think he was hoping to dominate early and force NU to make mistakes. If you'll notice, we had very similar 1st quarter game plans. I think things might have been different last week if we had taken the points instead of going for it. Not that we would have won, but I think it would have been closer. Coach has a good record when he scores first. (I'm not bothering to look it up, but I heard an announcer say it and it sounded good).
Seriously, though, join me on this bandwagon, it's been pretty lonely up here. :-)

As I said in a previous post, I love Coffman's heart and grit, but I hate how his limited talents limit the rest of the talented offense
Smith, DT, Thompson, Tannehill, McDonald, WeePo, Wilson – everyone of them have talents that could make this offense truly special. But without a better arm and ability to deal with pressure, they’re not nearly as special as they should be.
However, I do really like Coffman’s accuracy on the short range stuff. No, he can’t hit a barn at 25 yards, but from 5-15, he seems to be a pretty good shot. He did that against NU too, but NU’s D was able to gobble up those short passes so his YPA was AWFUL.
I want to see much less Coffman running (10 carries against KU? Yikes), and maybe some max-protect to give him time to fire it down field.

I agree
I think he can be more accurate on the deep stuff when he isn’t being harassed. If we had some max protect stuff we might be able to see some legitimate deep threats emerge.

Less Coffman running...why not if its working?

4.2 ypc is mediocre and that was against KU
But against NU he actually looked pretty decent with stats (that 36 yarder sure does help). I always think about Coffman’s inept 4th and 2 run against NU for why he shouldn’t run, not his game winning TD vs UCF or his surprisingly slick running against KU.
Anyway, 10 carries is a lot for someone that slow. How about 5, with DT and WeePo getting the other 5?

Checking in on the bandwagon...
Though I’ve been on it since the first week of the season. :-)

Carson is not a great (or even good) quarterback.
He is an average QB, who usually, but not always (see Pick 6, Iowa State), makes solid decisions. No, I think I’ll just stay on my “KSU-winning-ballgames” bandwagon, thanks. As long as what CC does helps us win, fine. The minute his sloth-like foot speed starts costing us a game, he needs to ride the bench.

Love the player! Hate his (lack of) game! :)
