I Have to Admit...
I'm impressed by you folks to the west. Kansas State looks like a damn good team and it's exciting to see them approaching a top 10 ranking as we get closer to conference play. I'll probably get blasted by my own for admitting as much but right now Kansas State has some serious experience and things seem to be coming together in all the right places.
Pullen and Clemente are a damn formidable pair of guards. Clemente obviously showed a lot last year but Pullen seems to be thriving in his third season. He's shooting much more efficiently and seems confident as an upperclassman.
The inside trio of Curtis Kelly, Jamar Samuels and Dominique Sutton has also put it together. I'm impressed with Kelly's transition as often times transfers can stumble. With Samuels and Sutton it isn't a huge uptick in production but having both entering their third season with the Wildcats I would have to believe it's starting to click better for them and the roles are becoming more comfortable.
Throw in a fairly deep and reasonably productive bench and Frank Martin seems to have put together a very solid unit. Saturday should be fun as I do think MU is a better team then their early season struggles, but regardless this Kansas State team looks the part and I'd have to say is probably a more well rounded group and possibly a better team in the long run than the Beasley/Walker year.
I guess we'll see you in a few weeks. Manhattan is going to be a tough place to come away with a win this year for anybody. Feel free to start by beating Texas, that way if we stumble...it doesn't sting as much. Of course at that point, I suppose you guys would be front runners for the Big 12 then wouldn't you?

Approaching?
Last time I checked the ESPN ticker, we’re already there.
Just kidding around. In all seriousness, though, very magnanimous of you. Looking forward to Jan. 30.
hadn't looked at the rankings this week yet sorry...
probably looking at being inside the top 10 after the UNC loss. It’d be pretty epic if the Jan. 30th game could be a matchup of top 10’s. I’d be nervous as hell but it’d be some well deserved pub for both programs.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
Well, don't want to get ahead of ourselves
because first we have to win in that Antler-infested snake pit in Columbia…
…but if we beat Texas, I think we’re looking at a matchup of top fives for Gameday. And that would be just epic.
I think Columbia is shaping up to be a tough game for all as well. Early I had my doubts about MU but they seem to be following a similar path to last year so it’s getting interesting.
As far as a matchup of top 5’s I think that’d be a reasonable assumption if both teams go from here until the end of the month undefeated. Epic wouldn’t begin to describe that one. Not too mention you’d have to believe by that point both teams would be staring at March 3rd as another potential MONSTER game. Could be a fun season.

as usual...
… i’m impressed with denverjhawk levelheadedness. Ive got best friends that i’ve been in their weddings and they will be in mine (eventually) that went to KU, and when we start talking about sports, it always seems to explode into a “KU is better than you” type of arrogant argurment, even if the topic has nothing to do with KU. So whenever I see a comment like this from denverjhawk (and i’ve seen a few), i’m always impressed.
So thank you good sir and we’ll see you in Bramlage at the end of the month.
Thats weird
Because I get the same feeling whenever I talk to KSU people. At weddings.
Just kidding. All fan bases have the overly obnoxious folks. If you think hawks are like that and no cats are well…wow.
Oops I got distracted with why I was here with the above
Was wondering today to myself about Wally Judge. I have only seen about 2 KSU games this year (you guys always seem to play at the same time we do) has he gotten any PT, or taken a back seat in the rotation? Obviously the cats are clickin, I was just curious because it seemed like there was a lot of hype surrounding him entering the season
Still getting his bearings
Sometimes he looks like a McDonald’s A-A, sometimes he looks like a deer in the headlights.

He starts, but then he sits on the bench a lot
Think Cole Aldrich freshman year, except Wally’s stats at this point are slightly better.
Well Cole didn't play his frosh year
Hardly ever, unless it was mop up time. WIth Jackson, Arthur and Kaun there weren’t really a ton of minutes for him all year, although most think he played more due to the “oh my God look what he did to Tyley Hansbra!” KU-UNC hype. When he was in I was like what the hell is Cole doing in there?
Big men can certainly take time develop. I had the priveledge of watching Kaun and CJ Giles play as youngins. You wanna talk about a deer in headlights look… haha

+1
I had the pleasure of listening to Bob Fescoe spew some bullshit this morning on 610 about how KU is god’s gift to mankind. That was all fine and dandy, what I would consider typical KU homer talk. But then he also had to add his opinion that State is a one man show with Jake, and nowhere near a top ten team. The comment about State had nothing to do with his original point, it was just a cheap shot to any K-Staters dumb enough to listen to him. He also added that he thinks KU is going to go undefeated.
That is an example of the “KU is better than you mentality” from someone who should atleast act somewhat unbiased. So, it’s good to hear from a couple of decent beakers.
Ignore Fescoe
He’s a shock jock muckraker of the worst variety, and his return to 610 signals like a clarion call that they’re on their last gasp.
He’ll say anything to attract listeners, and the more retardedly controversial, the better.
Best to forget he exists completely.
Yeah...
…back in this second-rate, wannabe-St. Louis city. What a joke.

Who knew the Big Red were so good...
Before we talk about undefeated Fescoe you might want to take care of Cornell.
Actually...
…they are a pretty solid program this year. Not the type of team that should come into Lawrence and be leading late in the second half, but a tough team nonetheless. I wouldn’t want to see them in March.

yep…I definitely think we should have played better to handle business but Cornell is a good team.
Kansas lucked out with that one. If Cornell played the way in the 2nd half that they did the first, Kansas doesn’t win. It definitely looked like the Jayhawks of last year where we had to rely on Sherron.
Glad we won, but you are right…somebody is going to draw Cornell in March and it won’t be fun.

Fescoe
represents the worst in KU fans. He epitomizes the arrogance often associated with KU fans. My KU friends and I can’t stand him and were happy when he left for St. Louis. I’m sorry to hear he’s back. Fescoe either has no idea or doesn’t care how bad he makes KU fans look.
On the plus side, I doubt he lasts long. He’s simply not very good at what he does and I think there’s no way he can carry a show like he’s being asked to do.
Is the Big 12 the best basketball conference this year?
Of course it is too soon to tell, but so far the Big 12 conference looks damned good in the rankings:
1. KU
2. Texas
10/11. KSU
22. TT
27. TA&M
30. Baylor
43. OSU
The immoderate moderator
I'm screwy this way
But I think A&M still should be ranked. You didn’t see Ohio State get penalized for losing its best player (and subsequently losing to Butler) very much at all, and aTm only lost its second-best player.
I also think Baylor has done enough to be ranked, but apparently some of the overrated teams near the bottom of the Top 25 will have to lose first and expose themselves before the voters see the light.
