No, no, no, no
It’s January 1 fellas, not April 1!
There is, of course, downside to Leach
1. He’s a major prick.
2. His ego is so huge that he sometimes won’t do what is best for his team or the school.
3. His coaching style is the antithesis of Snyder’s. Snyder works hard to build a team. Hell, he builds a family. He gets the most out of his players because he brings them together to make them want to work hard for him and for his teammates. Leach is more of a Mangino-type coach who prefers to break his players down, humiliate them and lead by forced submission.
Leach is an excellent offensive tactician. He’s a great guy to have in the office writing the playbook and in the booth during the game tweaking the gameplan. But I don’t want him as the head coach of the K-State Wildcats…ever.

Yeah, I'm with you there.
Of course, I’m one of those guys who was scared to death when we hired Huggy Bear; I knew he’d get the program moving, but… damnit, I require class at the ol’ alma mater. I wanna win. But I don’t wanna win at any cost, and I’d rather see us lose than be the subject of TMZ-style headlines.

Yeah, I knew Huggins wouldn't be there long, and I was happy about that
I don’t think every K-State coach needs to be a sweetheart, but I don’t want them to be mega-assholes either. Snyder is just right. Hartman was too.

I don't think Mangino is anything like Leach
Sorry, I’m not buying ESPN’s propaganda on this one. Leach was railroaded.
He’s probably not very good with people, but he doesn’t strike me as intentionall mean-spirited the way Mangino is.

Yes
I would love to have Leach as an OC, but the chances of Pirate Captain Crazy letting Snyder control his every move would be slim to none.
sure
what would re really have to lose….top notch talent that would want to play in that offense and a OC/HC of the future that would get to learn how to be a “family style” coach under one of the few true class acts in D-I…he kept Mangino, Stoops (Bob and Mike),and Jim Leavitt in line while they were under him at KSU. I don’t really view the Pirate’s personality as being any more volitale than those former assts..
I'd point out
that it’s a lot easier to “keep them in line” when they’re hungry assistants who are waiting for their big chance than it is when they’ve already had a very successful decade-long career as the guy in charge.
If you go after a guy like Leach as an assistant, it’s a one-year patch. Other programs will already be sniffing around his butt in the mating dance before his offense ever takes the field, and every single head vacancy that comes up will have his name attached to it. Sure, he’d help the offense. He’d also be a major distraction for the program, even if he IS well-behaved.

I suggest everyone watch this video
Also, check out these emails published in the Dallas Morning News. There are two sides to this story. Leach may be odd, or different, or strange, or whatever adjective you want to throw out, but he’s not an asshole. He had an entitled player with a meddling parent and an administration that wanted him gone. Perfect recipe for what happened.
Much thanks to SB Nation also for this editorial on the subject. Read and listen to all this. If you still think Mike Leach is an asshole who is unfit to coach at K-State, then we’ll agree to disagree and go on our way.
We'll carry the banner high!
Bring On The Cats
He totally got railroaded out of Lubbock
It is crystal clear, and ESPN’s coverage of this “Incident” has been unprofessional at best, and borderline libelous at worst. From the get-go, they were on James’s side, and they covered the story from that perspective.
BOOM! ROASTED!
Slanderous, not libelous
Well, I guess the Web site has been almost libelous.
+1 regardless. Let’s just say “defamation” and go from there.
