Austin Meek, Topeka Capital-Journal -- 3 answers: KSU vs. Louisiana: Meek takes a look at the answers the game provided to what he identified as the three biggest questions heading into the game. What did I take away from this? The fact that there were only 16,000 in attendance. W...T...F...
More from the TCJ: K-State falls at Louisiana, Missed field goals plague Cats, Wildcat report card (C- for the offense might be generous)
UCLA
Next weekend's opponent actually has a blog here at SB Nation, so keep an eye on Bruins Nation this week for wall-to-wall coverage of everything UCLA. After last weekend's victory over Tennessee in Knoxville, Bruins fans are casting an optimistic eye toward the rest of the season.
Volleyball
It was not a good weekend for the tournament hosts, as the K-State volleyball team went 1-2 at the Varney's Kansas State Invitational. The weekend was capped by a five-set loss to Purdue, and also featured a four-set loss to Kentucky on Friday. K-State's only win on the weekend was in five sets over Portland on Saturday. Sounds like the team needs to get refocused with conference play starting this week. Oklahoma pays a visit to Ahearn Fieldhouse on Wednesday.
The Fourum
Fourum! What up man! I mean person, my bad.
I hate people who talk to the Fourum like it is a person. It is an answering machine that doesn't have emotions or opposable thumbs.
This guy just tried to give me a solar-powered flashlight. Like I can use the solar power when I need the flashlight.

A caveat to Bruins fans
You beat Tennessee last year, too, and promptly got shellacked by BYU.
Tennessee sucks. Don’t read too much into it.
That said, you’ll still drill us, but that new QB thing eventually will derail you.
I thought
That the UCLA game was a toss-up?

Well, UCLA is 2-0 vs. SDSU and Tennessee
whereas K-State is 1-1 vs. UMass and UL-Laf
playing in Pasadena, I think UCLA has the edge.
Hail to the Purple, Hail to the White
Wildcat in spirit, Wildcat in fight
Hail Alma Mater from sea to sea
Onward forever, Hail Victory!
I've had it down as a loss from the beginning
My comment solely was in response to this:
After last weekend’s victory over Tennessee in Knoxville, Bruins fans are casting an optimistic eye toward the rest of the season.
All I’m saying is that a win over Tennessee clearly is not a good barometer of success for the Bruins, historically speaking.
Agreed
I was kidding around for the most part. If I were a UCLA fan, I wouldn’t be too excited (but since I’m an ISU fan, the excitment is pretty low right now regardless). The good news for UCLA fans, is the Pac 10 doesn’t look to be all that good, so that magic 6 win total is a possibility. TN was a mess last year, and Kiffin isn’t going to be able to fix it overnight (if at all).

Don't take it lightly...
Or this could be, by some miracle, the week the offense fires on all cylinders completes 65%+ passing with Thomas running over 100 and Valentine over 50. Meanwhile the defense keeps their young QB in check while keeping the Bruins to under 300 total yards offense. Look what happened to Okie State…and what does KSU have to lose?
UCLA, like all college teams...
…should not take an opponent lightly. We absolutely could win this game if a whole lot of things go right for us. UCLA’s offense hasn’t been great, and their starting quarterback is hurt, so they’re starting a true freshman.
On the other hand, we just lost to Louisiana. Not Louisiana State, unfortunately. And we don’t have the playmakers on offense that Houston does, nor do we have a trigger man like Case Keenum, although I’d like to think our defense is better than the Coogs’. I guess the bright spot is that UCLA is not as good as Oklahoma State, but my confidence level heading into this weekend is near zero.
We'll carry the banner high!
