Jayhawk Lounge...? WTF?
13 DAYS UNTIL KICKOFF!
I admit, I got a little sidetracked by yesterday's excitement. If you haven't heard yet, The Wichita Eagle (and by proxy, The Kansas City Star) hired its new K-State beat writer.
To call him a disappointment would be the understatement of the year.
Just Google "Jayhawk Lounge" and you'll see what I mean. In fact, I think that's what I'm going to call him from now on - Jayhawk Lounge* - because his real name is kinda fruity. And hard to spell. And pretentious.
Anyhow, we'll have more on the hiring of Jayhawk Lounge* just as soon as we finish our executive-level Bring on the Cats editors' meeting, which we called to figure out how to handle this crisis. It is taking longer than expected because EMAW brought several kegs of KSU-themed Bud Light to the office and, hey, you don't just wanna throw that stuff away, ya know?
*or, in keeping with the moniker pattern of his predecessor... J-Lounge, for short.

Covering their tracks
The content from the Jayhawk Lounge has been deleted. Any clues as to what we might have found just a few hours ago?

Panjandrum has a bunch of it
From Google caching. You can’t really cover your tracks on the Internet.
We’re working to compile it sensibly and store it here as a permanent reference. More on that soon.

You can check some of the pages by using the "Cached" link in Google's results.
I’m not sure it was readily apparent that this was Kellis’ blog, but the connection is documented:
Link #1:
Question for Kellis from Marilyn: Hey there, Kellis! What is your blog site about the Jayhawks? I hear you have a great website. I want to read it. Would you send me the site web address?
Answer from Kellis: Wow, my Kansas blog must be making the rounds. It’s called The Jayhawk Lounge and I publish it along with the help of three other KU grads. Enjoy!
Obviously it looks bad when a journalist starts covering his tracks…here is a cached link to some of the Jayhawk Lounge’s posts regarding K-State: Link

Yet another
Anyhow, having a fan of the in-state rival covering the K-State beat for the Star and/or Eagle is troubling. Will this be K-State news for the KU audience? Will this just be an exercise in dirt digging? Will all the K-State commentors from J-Mart’s ‘KStated’ blog be replaced with KU fans?
Not good, IMO.

KU fans are already starting to migrate to K-Stated
And KSUFanners are threatening to leave. Most of them probably will. They loved themselves some J-Mart, that’s for sure.

I am really fired up by this as well. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Noticed the banner image has already been dropped from the home page:

So not only is he a pedantic hack of a writer
but he’s unoriginal too?
I’m shocked.

Kellis' Twitter page
I’m not a Twitter member but apparently he asked about an apartment that he could get for 6 months and dump. Might be good to add to his history

In response
I don’t think that was a reference to how long he expects to last, rather than moving him and his wife to Manhattan. From what I could tell, he was moving into an apartment to begin with, then moving into a house. But who knows?

Here's the thing; I want Robinett to give his side of the story...
I think we would all be placated if he simply explains all of this to us. His blog, it’s deletion, the content, etc. should all be discussed.
Let’s give him a chance to explain. If he would like to do so, let’s try and do it with an open mind. I’d like to hear his side of the story.

Transparency is the name of the game...meanwhile:

These links have provided me with all the transparency I can stomach.
I tasted the contempt in his write up of Fan Appreciation Day…. and that was before I read his introduction and realized his dark side. One question: Do the delightfully unfriendly comments cause any damage or would it be more damaging to stonewall the rag?

Now that they have turned down multiple opportunities to explain themselves
I think the next step is to figure out where we go from here.
I have some ideas, but want to run them by my compadres first. I’m sure you’ll see something on this site before too long, perhaps even by tomorrow.
