Freddy may sue to get his scholarship release from FIU. Isiah Thomas points at the AD and says that it's on the other guy.

This situation is turning really sad.
FIU is gaining nothing by this entire ordeal. It sounds like Garcia is on some sort of sick power trip to prove that a 19 year-old kid won’t get the best of him. Freddy’s not going to play for your team, like it or not. All Garcia is doing is making himself (and FIU) look bad.
I really hope someone with some sense steps in and allows Freddy’s release. At this point, I don’t even care if he makes it to K-State. The kid wants an education, and he has the means to gain a degree by playing ball. Let him have that opportunity. Otherwise, who knows what will happen if he heads back home to Colombia because he can’t pay his way at another school.

I'm generally for a kid...
…honoring his commitment, but the facts of this situation completely turn that around. At least with a kid like Josh Smith from Colorado, he would have had some options if CU hadn’t released him from his scholarship. But a kid from abroad who apparently doesn’t have a lot of means…shame on you, FIU.

Maybe Garcia is the fall guy...
Thomas has quite the reputation coming into this mess, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s trying to repair his image with Garcia being the agreed upon fall guy.
Thomas: "Hey, it’s all Pete. I want what’s best for the kids!"
Garcia: "I hate you, Isiah, but I want what’s best for my programs."
Thomas: “I like corn on the cob.”

Did anyone else read...
the part about Beasley? Had those problems here. I just wish the kid would have stayed at least one more year, let Frank improve his defense. The way he’s going, he’ll be a huge bust just because he wont (or maybe doesn’t know how to) play defense! Its a shame that these kids are wooed away from a great educational experience by a huge paycheck. I hate to say baseball does something right with their draft, but maybe the NBA should take a page from them: let them enter the draft out of high school, and see where they get taken, and if they don’t like it then they can enter college; but if they enter college then they have to stay three years before they are eligible again. Yeah, you may lose a few “superstars” with superegos, but they wouldn’t stay in college more than one year anyway.

I did read that...
and thought it was kind of humorous how D-Wade called him out. “He’s slow footed.” Welcome to the NBA, Mike. Where your teammates call it like it is.
Beasley definitely needs to get better defensively if he wants to reach the level of KG, Dwight Howard, Tim Duncan, and others (yes, I realize those are all true centers and not tweener forwards like MB). Point is, the true superstars of the NBA can play on both ends of the court, and are not liabilities on either end. I think he can get there, it just takes some time. With one season under his belt, he can now see just how hard you have to work at this level.
