Lottery to be Used for Line Procedure at KU Game
I know there are many who will not be happy about this, but it's probably the most efficient way to make sure no one cuts the line or "saves a spot" for 30-40 people. I heard from a couple of people that this was a problem last year. I'm sure there will be glitches to work out this first year, but should be good in the long run.
By the way, I wonder why I never got asked to be on the Student Spirit Advisory Committee.

So is this basically
trying to eliminate people camping out Friday night?
So now people are to camp out Thursday night instead to get a place in line for the lottery?

Here's what I've gathered
1. You show up Friday morning at 6 a.m. to “register” your name or your group. At 7:30 a.m. they have the lottery drawing which determines your place in line. So, even if you show up at 7 a.m. Friday, your name will be entered in the lottery and you could get the first place in line.
2. Those that don’t show up Friday can show up Saturday and follow the same procedure, though they will most likely be at the very back of the line.
This will also eliminate a ton of students missing class on Friday (not that I’m above skipping for a Wildcat sporting event). However, it sounds like if you get there Friday morning for the lottery, you have to sit outside all day until Friday evening, at which time you can go home. The next day, as long as you or your group members are there by roll call, you keep your place in line.
Let’s hope enough students are awake by the time gametime rolls around…

I want to add
I missed out on this type of “camping out” since I was working for the student radio station. The one KU game I did sit in the student section, I was able to show up 2 hours before and stand in line at about the 50-yard line on the outside of BSFS.
For the record, the student section is a much better place to watch a K-State basketball game than press row.

What's this deal about the 6pm on Friday night?
Do they think it’ll take that long for the lottery to work? So much for not skipping class….

It really makes you feel good when your rival
has to roll out new regulations whenever you come into town :D
But, all kidding aside, guys, I am a KU fan. But, I am just a fan of sports in general. I actually hope KSU wins whenever they aren’t playing KU, or their game doesn’t affect KU in any way. So, if you guys don’t mind, I will likely join in your OGT tonight for the ISU game. This is something that I am going to start doing conference and nation-wide, just joining random OGT’s for games on TV, in an effort to just further my CBB knowledge.

A couple thoughts
First of all, I take solace that our own improvement is as much the cause of this system as the fact that school down the river is coming to town. That said, you’re always welcome to join our open threads, KCsince88.
Overall, though, just let me say this…I HATE this system. If seven dickholes from KU end up in the front row of our student section because we had a lottery for who gets in, I’m going to break something, possibly over somebody’s head.

Never thought about that.
But, I suppose that all depends on if any KU people have friends that save them a spot in their group. It could probably happen either way. I’m under the beilief that any K-State fan that sells their student ticket to a KU fan, or if they save a seat (especially in the first 2 rows) for their KU buddies, they should be kicked out of school, or maybe water-boarded.

Agree
Any decent K-State student who cannot attend the game themselves should set up an application and interview process before selling their ticket to a stranger. Although I do get a kick out of the KU fans in the students section who act so surprised and upset when they are booed. Sorry, KU fans, despite what you may believe – the entire world DOES NOT worship you.
I think I like this system because it would have given me the opportunity to be clean, rested, and rowdier at the game itself. One year we sat out there in the rain all night and morning and I was running 102 degree temperature by the end of the game… so I probably wasn’t as effective of a fan as I could have been. : ) I don’t think there will be anymore KU fans in the first few rows than normal. They’re going to figure out a way to get down there one way or another, because as TB said, they’re dickholes.

Fuck waterboarding...
…I advocate breaking out the power tools in that situation.
(Note, TB may or may not approve of torturing another human being. The above comment was made solely for humorous intent and should not be taken as advocating actual use of powertools on other human beings, even students who get seats for KU fans at the front of the K-State student section).

TB-
That comment at the top was merely tongue in cheek, just a joke. As much as it sucked losing to you guys last year, I look back at it now, and I can’t help but think that it was a good thing for the rivalry.
I asked you last night in the KU OGT what you thought of Frank Martin, because I am truly interested to know what you think. I haven’t paid much attention to KSU, so I feel very out of “the know” whenever we play you all in basketball or football.

No problem at all
I knew what you meant, just wanted to put our side of it out there. As mentioned before, you’re always welcome to join the game threads.

No need to explain
I’m sure he knew it was in good humor. We take it and dish it out over here, and nothing is taken personal. Besides, you used the open mouth smiley face emoticon. You’re cleared of any seriousness when using those.
As for Frank, I think I speak for most reasonable K-State fans when I say we love the guy. He has a passion for winning, the university, and especially his team, that is hard to fake or emulate. As we know, he is still learning, and may not be the most tactical coach in the league at this point, but I think he is learning quickly how to win in the Big 12. His recruiting pipeline is off the charts, and is exactly what K-State has needed to eventually turn the corner. Yes, he’s intense, but you’ll notice he never “baits” officials as Rick Barnes tried doing the other day (he has no T’s this year, while Self already has 2). He demands a lot from his players, and as long as they respond positively to his attitude, I’ll be happy.
