OPEN GAME THREAD: Alabama
Welcome, fellow Cat fans, to the Validation Game.
Are we going to show the consistency expected of Top 25 programs, or are we going to fall flat on our face in the Deep South and endure humiliation like Matthew Broderick in "Biloxi Blues"?
To find the answer to that question, check out:
- Time Warner Cable Channel 20, if you live in Kansas City
- Cox Cable Channel 98, if you live elsewhere in Kansas
That's it. If you don't meet one of those two criteria, you're doomed to Wyattvision. I'll keep an eye out for streams, but the usual source doesn't live in Kansas, so things look bleak for out-of-staters right now.

Anyone watching Texas pound North Carolina?
For my money, the Longhorns are the best team in the Big 12 — and the country — right now.
Kansas couldn’t even put 54 points on Michigan in a half, much less No. 10 North Carolina. I think Texas wins in Austin and gets the No. 1 seed in Kansas City.
Spoke too soon again
Texas 103, North Carolina 90
Even Dickie V said Texas is the best team, by a smidge, over Kansas.
Rank ’em #1, voters!
Meh
It’s too early to tell with those two teams on who’s better. For all we know, we’re better than the both of them…
I don’t think anyone should take what “Dickie V” says too serious. His analysis and opinions are based on which teams are doing hot right now thus creating more bandwagon fans. Well except for Duke and UNC because he’s already given one of his own testicles to each one of the schools.

It's never too early to declare
that KU sucks.
My point was that EVEN Vitale can see that Texas is better. He’s usually the last one to notice things.
Xavier down 1, with the ball and 1.2 seconds
Could be a crazy finish in Indianapolis.
Too bad Drew Lavender still isn’t on their team.
Wow, Xavier just got fucked on the worst call I've ever seen
They ran off the clock, saying it had paused earlier and time would have expired during the last Butler shot.
Fuck that shit.
Wait’ll you see this one on SportsCenter. Quite possibly the craziest ending I’ve ever seen.
So would that be like saying
that Nebraska should have one the Big 12 title game because we’re pretty sure the refs earlier in the game stopped the clock a little too early?

Totally different situations, dude
One was a dead-ball situation.
This was live-ball.
Not even remotely comparable.
Sports Center thought it was right
I like replay and giving the refs a chance to fix it, but my thing with that play was that Butler would have seen that they had less time and they would have had to play that last 14 seconds differently. Maybe they would have been in too much of a hurry and screwed themselves over.
Should have left it at what it was. Xavier probably didn’t have much of a chance anyway.
Just Wabash already!

My biggest problem is that the refs took the game out of the hands of the players
It might technically have been the wrong call, but it’s like ending an NFL game on a penalty and a 10-second runoff: Completely unsatisfying and anticlimactic.
I don’t care how long-shot the odds were. I’ve seen crazier finishes in the NCAA tournament with less time on the clock. The game should be decided by the 10 guys on the floor, not the three in stripes.
I think the rule should be changed such that a minimum of 0.5 second must remain, no matter what. At least give them a chance at a last-second miracle shot. It’s not their fault the homer Butler clock operator screwed them with either incompetence or malice.

That we won’t shoot like we did in Vegas again.

Team Pullen looks pretty good
I’m hoping it stays like that in the 2nd.

Wichititty State is doing EVERYTHING they can to lose
And probably will win regardless.
F you, Tech. We’re taking your spot.
We could really charge in the AP poll.
Tech, Florida, Georgetown all lost today, and we won’t even speak of what happened to Gonzaga.
This space for rent.
Remember when Portland was everybody's darling
for 10 minutes?
Washington 16, Portland 2.

OK, so how far do we move up?
Ahead of us, these teams lost today (most of them ugly):
No. 9 Tennessee
No. 10 North Carolina
No. 11 Georgetown
No. 13 Florida
No. 15 Gonzaga
No. 16 Texas Tech
I’m thinking 12th in the AP or so.
12 sounds good
Makes me kinda nervous

It depends on how guys actually do their ballots.
We could move all the way to 11.

This business of letting them score can stop now.
Bama’s FG% is all the way up to 37%.

We got Bad Jamar for this game
Too bad.
There were opportunities there for him today, but he can’t finish shit tonight.
Watching him shoot free's
Is like being punched in the crotch over and over.

C'mon, guys
There’s no excuse to look this bad against a press.
You see every damn year when we play Mizzou.
No, we're killing us
Lack of intensity and focus.
You can’t shut it down against BCS teams until the game is over.
Wake up, Cats.
I'm counting that as a 3
For the sake of ….whatever

There's been a lot of points in the past 2 minutes
damn ’Bama is playing hard

OK, I'm glad we have three weeks
To work on the press, before we have to go to Columbia.
Get this shit fixed, Frank.
Hope he gets it fixed in the next 10 days.
Did you see what Cleveland State did to WVU today?
This space for rent.
Yeah, but that won't happen in Bramlage
I only see two teams that I think could come into Bramlage and play well enough to win: Kansas and Texas.
I’m much more concerned about road games.
Interesting stat just now from Ben
20-6 since the 0-4 start to Big 12 play last year.
Only 3 of those games were against rummies.
That didn't look good
for Clemente’s ankle.

Yes
I’m sending good thoughts. Things are looking good. Let’s just keep it going.
