OPEN GAME THREAD: Fort Hays State

It's time for our annual MIAA sacrifice, served up on a warm Bramlage platter.

I won't be able to watch this game live due to work constraints, so I'm relying on you guys to keep me apprised of the details.

Don't worry, though. I've got the DVR set for this one, as I am anticipating a few dunks and other such highlight-worthy plays before the night is old.

OK, guys

I’m stuck in a meeting that’s been invaded by a bunch of Cub Scouts.

So I’m relying on you to keep me apprised of what’s going on in the game. Can’t watch it until tomorrow.

I see three fouls and a whole lotta missed shots

Not really the improved effort I was hoping to see after the poor showing on Saturday.

I’m sure Frank agrees.

What I wouldn't give to see

Clemente follow his shot….just once.

this has to be

The worst half of ball I have ever seen.

A couple thoughts...

…and I agree with most of you that what I just saw ranks among the most awful basketball I’ve seen outside of the 7th grade girls C-team games that I was forced to sit through periodically as a child.

Where’s Jake? I didn’t see the first 12 minutes, so I’m guessing that I missed whatever happened that caused him to have a seat over there with the coaches for the last eight minutes. Ditto Curtis Kelly, although given his defensive effort recently, we shouldn’t be surprised to see him riding the pine soft cushy chairs.

Martavious Irving’s defense is spectacular. If he wouldn’t have lost his balance on that halfcourt trap, he would have been flawless. He’s not ready to play point guard on offense, however.

JamSam is having a good first half, but he appears to be the only one. That shot that he had blocked was a head-scratcher, though.

WTF was Ojeleye doing on that shot from the wing?

Evening guys, I'll ignore the game play for a minute.

Why does K-State have a different shade of top from their shorts?

I used to work with an old man that told me. Son, every workplace has a dumbass, if you don't have one where you work, then I'm afraid you're it.

It's our version of throwbacks...

…if you look at the old Sports Illustrated cover where Ro Blackman is hitting the shot to beat Oregon State, he’s wearing a lavendar top and purple shorts. Jack Hartman (I think) introduced the two-tone look, and they brought it back last year once or twice. Apparently, they’re going to keep wearing them on rare occasions.

Ah, ok. I hoped it was intentional.

First time I’ve seen you guys play this year and was hoping Frank was trying to start a new trend.

Well, we survived

After the game, Frank threw Stan a massive curveball:

“I’m either going to get it (effort) out of them or I’m going to get them off the team.”

Stan sort of paused and had to recollect his line of questioning.

Frank was as mad as I have ever seen him. Probably madder.

I would not want to be CK or Wally Judge tomorrow.

wow

that curveball was funny too.

yeah they are going to run their legs off.

i would throw ojeleye in there too, he had a good game as well.
another player is Irving, he was a defensive beast

Go 'Cats!!!

Wow

Frank in postgame with Wyatt and Matt… Wow.

“Over my dead body will we have guys out there who aren’t going to build on what we have established as K-State basketball here the past three years.”

“I’m tired of guys telling me what they’re going to do; I want to see it.”

“Three hours might be too much practice for some guys tomorrow. After a few minutes, they may pack their bags and fly home.”

“We’re going to get spanked by Washington State if we don’t start guarding people.”

Manhood check for CK and WJ

We’re going to find out what they are made of.

At least Judge...

…got back in the game in the second half. Kelly was AWOL from the minute I started watching the game.

He had 5 minutes

Frank said that was indicative of his frustrations.

Wally’s in the doghouse.

Curtis is in the werewolfhouse.

Matt said it best

It’s time for this team to grow up.

Or not. And they can sit at home on Selection Sunday and wonder why they got left out again.
