Still pretty damn rough

You can tell that when it clicks, it will be beautiful, like when Judge almost fed Kelly for an easy one there.

But until it does, it’s still pretty damn ugly.

yeah.

they better figure it out quick. we cant play sloppy when we enter big 12 play. we will play teams better than this all year long. if we make mistakes they will convert and score off it. it is good to have jake and denis’ leadership tho on the court.

Go 'Cats!!!

We're getting our pace

And they’re executing better than us at it. Yikes.

Frank

Jake is the point guard.

Not Denis.

When are you going to accept it?

by BracketCat on Nov 22, 2009 4:49 PM CST reply actions

i dont know.

jake is a much better point. he has better control leading the team

Go 'Cats!!!

Really weird calls by the refs

The bucket interference on Judge was TERRIBLE, travel calls all over the places, strange offensive pick calls…

by BracketCat on Nov 22, 2009 5:00 PM CST reply actions

Kelly just looks gassed out there

A step late on everything. No vertical explosion.

A year off and then three games in four days, plus a tough practice, probably will do that to you.

Sucks for us.

This is Dayton's game

Lower scoring.

We had something going early, but Dayton’s made some defensive adjustments. Plus, I think we’re tiring out because I’m just not seeing as much offensive movement as we need, to get guys open.

That, and we’re missing layups because guys just don’t seem to have legs. Frank must have really ran them yesterday.

by BracketCat on Nov 22, 2009 5:17 PM CST reply actions

Well, for as sloppy as we played at times

I’ll take a 35-28 lead at halftime.

That’s with several breakdowns allowing wide-open 3s for Dayton, and CK having foul trouble for the last 10 minutes or so.

Need to get him involved in the second half and shore some things up, and this is winnable.

by BracketCat on Nov 22, 2009 5:29 PM CST reply actions

Jacob is having a hell of a game

Only one missed free throw, several made 3s, great drives and passing decisions, good defense.

Also, kudos to Martavious for some excellent minutes early in the game when things were tenuous. He must have impressed in practice yesterday.

by BracketCat on Nov 22, 2009 5:30 PM CST reply actions

39-28

Biggest lead of the game.

Great steal by Dom and Denis with the unobstructed finish.

Jake took a shot to the ribs (no foul) and is out for now. Hope he’s OK, because he’s been by far our best player.

I’ve given a lot of crap to Dom this year, but he’s really stepping up right now. Rebounding, defense, turnovers — you name it. He’s finally finding his game again.

by BracketCat on Nov 22, 2009 5:50 PM CST reply actions

Jake's back

Jamar misses 2 FTs, Wally with the rebound and a great feed to a driving Dom for a sick dunk.

Then Jamar gets a dumb, needless backcourt foul. Great.

by BracketCat on Nov 22, 2009 5:56 PM CST reply actions

we are starting to play better.

we are widening the lead which is good to see and making adjustments. where is everybody else today bracket???

Go 'Cats!!!

Dunno

Still in mourning/hangover mode, I suppose.

Denis with a huge 3 earlier, and then a possession where he had 2 looks and Jake had 1 — all misses. Crazy. But I like the aggressiveness.

Dayton starting to press. Time to protect the lead and make FTs… but stay aggressive.

by BracketCat on Nov 22, 2009 6:08 PM CST up reply actions

im still in that mode.

im still mourning but a win here would help me alot. sometimes we can shoot 4’s but that possession we couldnt to save our lives. we are being aggressive for sure.

we def need to make our ft’s. go to the line and make our shoots, win this game and go home.

Go 'Cats!!!

Jamar is our best player. I'm telling you all; he's the most important player on this team.

And he got a face full of salty white chocolate balls right there. Ouch.

i would maybe go with...

pullen or samuels. the are both very important.

Go 'Cats!!!

No, that would be Jake

Dumb play by Jamar right there. Couple that with the stupid inbound last time down and I’m not real impressed right now.

by BracketCat on Nov 22, 2009 6:35 PM CST up reply actions

nice game guys.

we escaped with a victory, barely. nice job state.

Go 'Cats!!!

That was a great growth win

Way to step up, guards.

Jamar needs to get his head straight. I think he spent more time chasing Puerto Rican tail this week than he did thinking basketball, and it showed. Kicking that guy was absolutely inexcusable and made me embarrassed as a K-State fan. Highly disappointing.

Sutton had a great game. Really impacted the game with his defense and rebounding.

Kelly needs to get a lot better at defense and rebounding. He could be a monster, but he has to want it.

Wally grew up a lot today. He’s gonna be big for us from here on out.

I thought McGruder played pretty well, too. But by the same token, Jordan took a bit of a step back this week. That was to be expected given that this was his first time going against really good Division I big men.

Finally, props to the K-State fans who made the trip. Hearing the K-S-U chant was great.

I think 2-1 is roughly what we were hoping for. Beating No. 18/21 was sweet. That will be a great quality win for us and showed what we are capable of.

by BracketCat on Nov 22, 2009 7:19 PM CST reply actions

A couple points...

I thought Jamar should have been ejected from the game…though he did save some face by shaking the guys hand soon afterward.

I was really surprised at the demographic differences between the UD fans and KSU fans (namely age).

Frank: "Wally's tip-in was worth a million bucks."

“He played his rear end off today. He was active defensively.”

by BracketCat on Nov 22, 2009 7:21 PM CST reply actions

More Frank:

“The game Friday got away from us when Dom got his 4th foul. He brings unbelievable energy and does all the little things right.”

Also, Dayton had won 20 of 21 games decided by 5 points of less. Gritty group, but we found a way.

by BracketCat on Nov 22, 2009 7:25 PM CST reply actions

By the way, did anyone else feel like ESPN really, REALLY wanted Dayton to win?

Pretty one-sided coverage, I thought.

Especially after the technical on Jamar. “Could this be the turning point?” Uh, yeah, dumbass, because we got pissed and scored the next 7 points.

by BracketCat on Nov 22, 2009 7:27 PM CST reply actions

What else is new?

That seems like a common thing w/ ESPN. I’m not sure where all the K-Hate is coming from, but I get pretty sick of the doubters. I finally put the game on mute b/c it drives me nuts listening to them talk non-stop shit.

by williewildcrack on Nov 22, 2009 7:34 PM CST up reply actions

Wow, Fran Fraschilla has lost a ton of weight

Doesn’t even look like the same guy.

Anyone else sticking around for Ole Miss-Villanova? Game’s about to tip on ESPN.

I’m really interested to see how the Rebels do in the one. I think if they can knock off the Wildcats, we’re gonna feel a lot better about that loss.

by BracketCat on Nov 22, 2009 7:28 PM CST reply actions

Wow, Nova off to a quick start

8-0 already.

Hey, Ole Miss, why the hell couldn’t you miss those shots against us? Bastards.

by BracketCat on Nov 22, 2009 7:31 PM CST reply actions

Fight back

Now tied 12-12. Way to shake off adversity, Rebels!

by BracketCat on Nov 22, 2009 7:45 PM CST up reply actions

17-12 Ole Miss

Awesome. Jay Wright is getting pissed.
