I really think
that we might have a chance in this one. I think if Gregory starts and our pass defense shows up to play, plus if Harold starts and provides some pass rushing we could really have a fighting chance.
However, I’m also guilty of senseless optimism.
You're a fan...
…it’s to be expected. A lot of things would have to go right, but at least this isn’t the Tech juggernaut from last season.
We'll carry the banner high!

And
we’re not (knock on wood) the same type of team we were last year – giving up at the end of games and letting juggernaut’s walk all over us.
I am expecting a game within 10 points. Well, maybe thinking possible rather than expecting…

I think Taylor Potts being out will end up being great as well, even though admittedly I know NOTHING about TT, aside from the fact that this year they are Crabtree-devoid and went 0-1 in conference play so far. Never know, this could be one that we jack from somebody. I think it’s that kinda day.
Tech is going to...
…just plug in another QB and keep on trucking. There won’t be much dropoff. I saw their third-string QB (a true freshman) play last fall in Houston, and if he’s their third stringer, they have some talent. We have to get some pressure on whoever is in there. If we don’t, they’ll pick us apart.

All right, the word is out on KU
Their defense officially sucks. Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech are going to light them up like a Christmas tree.
And Suh will make Reesing his personal golf tee. My fears about a KU North title are diminishing by the week.
You just knew...
…that Arnaud was going to miss on that last throw. I mean, it’s Iowa State. Whatever can happen to make them lose in the absolute most painful manner possible will, in fact, happen.

Seriously, they’ve found new and creative ways to rip out the hearts of their fans.
Missing field goals two straight years with a chance to win the North? Check
Hiring a coach who went 5-a billion his two years there, then wins five straight at his new job? Check.
Losing a game last week when an extra point was blocked? Check
Losing a game this week by five when they missed two PATs, a field goal, and had a receiver wide open on a fourth down play that would have put them ahead? Check.

Just over the 50 before the penalty
Maybe near the Tech 40…?
I’ll check when it comes back from ad break.
For some reason, we're going with a three-man rush
Bill’s comment about rushing 1 and dropping 10 might not have been far from the truth.
Our DL against their OL is like waves breaking on the rocks
And Butler gets caught peeking again. First down Tech.
Harold gets held bad on the next play.
Jesus
Tech runs off tackle for like 40 yards.
Fuck this.
P.S. Harold is not 100 percent. Pretty slow looking, actually.
Moore with great defense on a fade
LATE flag for offensive pass interference.
Big break.
Maybe we can force a FG. But probably not.
And gets the better of Moore on the next play
Gains most of it back on a long drag across the middle. Moore looked terrible there.
We start at the 9 after a holding penalty by Klein on the KO
This one is pretty much over if we don’t score soon.
OMG
Sheffield throws his first incompletion.
Had Calvin in his face. Amazing what happens when you get a little pressure.
Plus Leach was trying to go for the jugular on that one.
Thank God...
…I was getting ready to write that any hopes of keeping this game relatively close have pretty much gone out the window. Maybe we can use this to get back in the game, but it’s plain as day our defense can’t stop Tech. We may offer a little more resistance than last year, but we won’t be stopping them. Can only hope to chew up the clock and finish off drives. The problem is that, the more plays we run, the more likely we are to get called for a drive-killing penalty.

Harrison with another great play in the end zone
Damn, that kid can play. They should stop picking on him.
Somehow we contained them
4th and goal at the 2.
We actually forced a FG attempt.
That’s a win, considering what good field position we gave them.
Bill Snyder declines the penalty
To give him a sharper angle, I guess.
Contest winner makes it anyway. 17-0
I'm shocked that Leach elected to kick a FG

Gregory overthrows Banks on play action
At least he learned not to underthrow it for an INT. Still say he has a better arm than Coffman.
Gregory's footwork looks bad...
…not sure why, Tech hasn’t shown a lot more rush than ISU, but apparently their DL is faster than ISU’s (shocking).

Good news: Doerr caught the snap
Bad news: Kick doesn’t even make it to the 50. The frenzied squib was better. Sad.
That's how Texas rolls...
…they’ll play just good enough to win in every game.

We have been outgained 234-56
Batch runs over four KSU defenders.
Need another year of bench pressing, I guess.
The good news is...
…we’re making tackles that we wouldn’t have come close to making last year. The bad news is, it’s such a chore to do so that we give up yards after contact.

Paging Vic Koenning:
You are no longer in the ACC. Please drop the soft zone and start getting aggressive. We have nothing to lose at this point.
Unless you are just playing safe to keep the score down. In which case, we are even worse than I think we are.
I'm curious...
…why we’re basically playing a 3-4. I know we’re usually bringing four or five anyway, but why bother? Their line is big enough that it’s not like it’s going to matter if we surprise them with where we bring pressure from.

Doerr finally booms a nice punt
Jeez, Ryan, that might have been nice a few drives ago, before Tech got up by four scores.
We're in full mistake-avoidance mode right now...
…trying not to do what Nebraska did back in 2004 when Tech hung 70 on them in LBK.

Even so it seems like our third and long playbook consists of
screen right, screen left, qb up the gut, rb up the gut
That wasn't Moore
But still, terrible play.

Will tonight be our first shutout since 1996?
Starting to look that way… Not even sure we can net a FG.
God, Stringer can't even hold a block...
…and they have 360 total yards and it’s not even halftime.

All right, it's not all the OL
GG needs to get rid of the ball better than he is.
And the game just cut out. Wonderful.
Now they have it back...
…with 93 seconds left. Plenty of time to get over 400 total yards in the first half.
The worst part? We know Leach won’t take his foot off the pedal. This is going to be a historic beating.

Tech throws a 50-yarder
They had it, but he dropped it. Leach wants 80, apparently.
Garrett was the one burned there.
Ok so a close win over a crappy Iowa State team gave me way too much hope last week
coming back to reality really really hurts
Torell Miller with a nice tackle there
Hope these guys remember this in the years to come. We’re officially in development time now.
It's kind of hard to
Our coaches seem to have no clue how to deal with Tech.
370 passing yards in one half. 5 TDs. Christ.
Personally
I take no offense to Leach going pedal-to-the-metal for AT LEAST half the game… If we don’t come out and score immediately 3rd quarter, then it becomes “ease up a bit” time.
IMO

this is embarrasing.
we are getting our tails kicked left and right.
GO CATS!!! Keep playing hard!!!
Hey BOTC guys...
I miss the 1st half to have an anniversary dinner with my wife and come home to 0-38?? I’m holding you responsible. I don’t think I have the mojo to bring us all the way back. Lets go.
Boo Coffman
He won’t be any better than GG behind this line. Plus he throws picks.
See? If GG throws that to Lamark, it’s a catch.
That is a fact.
Unless Coffman is minimum 5x better than he was in the UCLA game I attended……..

EMAW does not intend to alienate those of the female gender. For those who are offended, you may refer to me as EHAW (Every Human A Wildcat). Our faithful four-legged friends may feel comfortable with EPAW (Every Pet A Wildcat). However, we thus arrive at a paradox.

At least Leach is running the ball now
Too bad we still can’t stop it.
Crazy theory: Ron Prince actually went under cover with a scary smart Bill Snyder mask, and is still actually coaching the team. Discuss.
Well,
Current score lends plausibility to that theory, but simple analysis of physical dimensions of the two individuals is pretty airtight evidence against the theory.

Shit, Coffman might actually lead a 90-yard scoring drive here
And the QB carousel continues.
CC will get the start next week, throw 3 picks, and we’ll be right back to GG again. This is 2001 all over again.
Seven TD passes
59-7.
One more and Sheffield will tie Symons’ record of 8.
And Moore is just not right this season. Smoked like a fine Cuban cigar on that one.
F
I wish we could just inflict some physical punishment in return for this beatdown. That’s what I’m ready to do right now.
Biggest loss of the day
As long as we can keep the spread over 49 pts, we’ll have the biggest loss in college football today.

Tech cheating is awesome
15 yard penalty on TD + 15 yard penalty (roughing the snapper – LOL!) on XP = kicking off from the Tech 40
Heh.
would you try an onside kick? if nothing else just keep getting more practice for offense if we get it back

Reesing will light this defense up like a Christmas tree
I don’t know what the solutions are. Hell, they might as well just start cutting people that don’t play hard and start over.
The downside is that a lot of the signees are freshmen/grayshirts. So the cavalry is still a couple of years away.

done to him by Snyder? I can’t really recall seeing Tech do this to other teams… perhaps I just never pay attention to the TTU final scores………?

ouch...so much for not allowing 550-600 yards...
On defense poor tackling, absolutely no pressure on the qb, defensive backs looking in on single coverage with no deep safety help over the top and getting smoked to the end-zone. Players standing around at the line trying to make arm tackles on rbs instead of taking their gap assignment. On special teams we had no real returns of significance almost looked like banks was stuck in a quagmire trying to wait for the wall to punch holes for the return. Note to the coaches get him on the perimeter with space and let him create chaos with his feet. On offense no qb protection, coffman is just too inaccurate, gregory looked befuddled, more dropped passes, passes behind receivers, passes in the dirt, the stands, to cheerleaders…you fill in something here for fun. I am not sure why we don’t adopt an NFL approach to our running game and have both Thomas and Valentine alternate? The combo would be hard to stop. Where oh where have the slant passes gone? Receiver screens? Wheel routes? Our third down play calling is just bad. Why are we running the “wildcat” on 3rd and 8 in the middle of the field? Seriously did we think Tech wouldn’t see that coming? The report card on this game is not going to be pretty.
Well, that was quite possibly the least fun game I've ever seen...
Now I know how some of our non-con fans felt in the late 90’s.
Hail to the Purple, Hail to the White
Wildcat in spirit, Wildcat in fight
Hail Alma Mater from sea to sea
Onward forever, Hail Victory!
Believe it or not
Nebraska 2007 was worse.
Or maybe it just felt that way because I watched it from within a sea of red. Stupid Husker assholes.
Was that Callahan's last gasp for keeping his job?
I think I remember that one…fortunately I wasn’t there.
Hail to the Purple, Hail to the White
Wildcat in spirit, Wildcat in fight
Hail Alma Mater from sea to sea
Onward forever, Hail Victory!
Actually, I think it was his big F you to Nebraska fans
After losing the last 5 or so by ugly margins.
Before the game, we didn’t get into arguments with Huskers about who was going to win. We argued about whose team was more likely to lose. It was like an episode of the Twilight Zone.
