If this is true, then our prayers have been answered. More details to come as the day presses on.

Well, I wasn't expecting this to be the big news...
I thought it would be something even more wild and crazy…but, I accept.
I expect Fred Phelps to be named interim AD in the meantime.

Onward forever, Hail Victory!
I just hope...
…he doesn’t say anything stupid at his resignation press conference.
Thanks for your years of service to Kansas State University, Mr. Krause. Sorry it had to end like this.

We should start a pool on how many people get thrown under the bus during the press conf.
My money says the fans, Weiser, and the janitor who keeps moving his trash can.

Maybe he'll blame this blog, too

Oh you can bet us internet bloggers
and fans on the message boards are going to take a hit. The Cap-Journal won’t get much love, either.
My guess as to what transpires: Someone within the department will be named interim AD (most likely Jim Epps) until the new UP is hired. The new UP’s first order of business will be to hire an AD they are comfortable with.
This could be either very smart, or very messy. Considering our string of luck lately, I’ll go with the latter.
Don't have time...
…to look up the newspaper article right now, but I remember it being mentioned quite a while ago that Krause turned over the day-to-day operations of the athletic department to Epps, so that sounds like the reasonable course of action.
And I agree with you on the last sentence. Whenever an AD — or anyone, for that matter — quits unexpectedly like this, you have to wonder what else may be going on. Maybe he’s just getting out of he way so we can get somebody who actually knows how to be an AD, or maybe there’s something else there.

I'll tell you what else is going on
The events of last week probably had the effect I predicted. Donors clammed up on Wildcat Victory until he was out.
Jim Epps did all the day-to-day work anyway. Krause was a figurehead that had ONE job: KEEP THE DONORS HAPPY. And he managed to screw that up seven ways to Sunday in less than a year. What a total fuck-up.
Which is exactly what everyone predicted for a guy with no AD experience when he took the job.
I'm going to start the drumbeat...
…for Sheahon Zenger.

Good Call.
Your like a walking Royal Purple. Fire up the hirezenger.com website. Do you see any possible snags in directing the man you used to work for?
Do you man Epps?
If that’s what you mean, the only problem would be if Epps was unhappy because he wanted the job permanently. Epps has a lot of experience in athletics administration, but at this level we need to make sure we get a guy with actual AD experience. He made his career choice to remain at K-State rather than going elsewhere and getting some experience as the lead guy. I hope it’s not a problem, but you never know.

Ha, Zenger's Bio
says he’s got the total package….I’m 9 years old by the way.
Man do I hate Longhorn fans, well except for the ones that actually went there.
Two-liter bottle of Mountain Dew and a Snickers bar?
Hail to the Purple, Hail to the White

Ohhhh, I see...
He could be described as a total package…which is something more than being described as a complete tool.
Hail to the Purple, Hail to the White
Wildcat in spirit, Wildcat in fight
Hail Alma Mater from sea to sea
Onward forever, Hail Victory!
Don't forget the 25 year old playboy
that you stole from your uncle’s bedroom

That completes the trifecta.

Like I've said before
I’ll believe it when I see a different AD step in office.

I just can't wait for all of this mess to clear up
I don’t know to much of this because basically all the information on this I get from this site, but all I have to say is that hopefully with a new Prez, new AD, Bill Synder, and the formidable Frank Martin – we can assume that the ‘09-’10 athletic year should be a much smoother one compared to the past 3 or 4 years.
And of course all this resignation, firing, and utter cluster-fuck that is the K-State administration has to happen during this economy when money is tight to begin with.
Man do I hate Longhorn fans, well except for the ones that actually went there.
What doesn't kill us will only make us...
weirder.
The Joker said it.
Hail to the Purple, Hail to the White
Wildcat in spirit, Wildcat in fight

Onward forever, Hail Victory!
Well at least there's no
NCAA sanctions coming from all of this crap.
Shit, I just jinxed us.

Additional info
According to the KC Star and others, Krause will oversee the new K-State Olathe campus. This works in K-State’s favor financially since a buyout will not be necessary. The reason for Krause stepping down appears to be due to his “bookeeping” negligence with the K-State Foundation. The donors are obviously not happy with last week’s stories in the Cap-Journal either, and so the money has stopped pouring in.
This is all info I’ve gathered from other news sites, so take it as you wish. As others have mentioned, this could go much deeper than we think. I don’t think it will go to the depths of being illegal, but I’m sure what he was doing was not exactly what those with the deep pockets wanted.
Hmmm...
Interesting move. I wonder who will be in charge of Institutional Advancement for the main campus. Jim Epps will be interim AD.
