Josh Freeman
I am a Tampa Bay Buccaneers Fan and am doing a fanpost on our SBNation site (BucEm.Com) about potential first round draft picks. Mel Kiper has us drafting Josh Freeman at position 19.
I need your help! What is Freeman's upside (obviously he is huge)? What is his downside? How do you think he fits into the NFL? What kind of person is he?
I appreciate your help and feel free to check in at BucEm.Com if this is where he winds up.

Thoughts
Upside: Cannon of an arm, moderately mobile, bigger than most linebackers, can make any throw in the book
Downside: Mental approach, leadership, decision making, fundamentals break down under pressure
I find it pretty surprising that Freeman is projected to go in the first round. When he first declared, he was projected as a second or third rounder at best. He is a pretty smart, likeable young man, though, so he’ll come across well in personal interviews, and I’m sure his measureables will be impressive. It remains to be seen whether better coaching than what he got here at K-State can turn him into a really good quarterback.

Appreciate it!
Do you mind if I quote some of the things you mentioned (obviously giving you credit)

I think most people are too hard on Josh
I honestly think that if he was starting at UT or OU that he would have won the Heisman. I watched Colt McCoy trying to make throws during the Fiesta Bowl that Freeman made all season. But then again, college success or coming from a big-name program has little to do with success in the NFL.
If he gets the right coach in the NFL, I think he’ll be an everyday name in 3-4 years. All of the downside issues TB mentioned above can be adjusted if the right guy comes along. Ron Prince was not that guy.
Man do I hate Longhorn fans, well except for the ones that actually went there.

Is Morris that guy?
Maybe he’s seen just enough to know what not to do.

One thing's for sure...
…he won’t be bringing in Ron Prince as his offensive coordinator.

freeman bucs #19
you have to look at it like this
josh didnt have a line in front of him half the time he was running for his life and he also had no nfl caliber receivers on the field and he sure didnt have the coach he needed
if he was a sooner we wouldnt be discussing this because he would probably had won the heisman behind that o-line and that receiving core.
but I do think he should come back and play for Coach Snyder then I think he could be a top five pick in 2010 draft
