Yep

It’s like exactly like that one guy predicted on GPC.

Turnovers early? Check.

KU making its threes? Check.

I’m surprised we actually got that charge call on Collins. Check that – I’m STUNNED.

We look like a Wooly team

I’ve seen this at least 6 times in the last 7 years. Never thought I would have to see it again. Bet Frank is just apoplectic.

Turnovers, poor guard play, and weak post players

Jake, I swear to God, pull your head out of your ass.

There you go. Fred with a three...Jake with penetration and a dish...

That’s how we play ball.

Do what you’re good at. Calm down, play smart, and play within yourselves.

Side note: I hate Dave Armstrong

I know that he’s a KU alum, so I get it.

However, the on-air fellatio is over the top. He shouldn’t be allowed to call KU games.

Not just KU games...

he shouldn’t be allowed to call games period. I honestly have never come across a person that’s worse at their job – yet gets to kep it.

By the way, love the Jack Donaghy quote – neever noticed it for some reason…

Thoughts...

KSU plays better when Kent isn’t on the floor. At least tonight, anyway.

Dom Sutton is playing very tentatively. He needs to attack the rim. I have no idea why he just went sideways into the lane.

Can we please find ways to get Fred the fucking ball?

I'm going to say something that I'll probably regret...

I don’t like bashing players because, let’s face it, it’s not cool…

But Darren Kent is bringing nothing to the team tonight. He should be on the bench.

Halftime Thoughts...

Man, where do I begin…

  • The guard play, to start out the game, was obviously bad. Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. That’s the story of the game. Hell, it’s the story of every game this year.
  • Darren Kent needs to stop turning the ball over, or he needs to sit on the bench. There is no reason he should be called for traveling. Christ, there’s no reason for him to dribble. He should catch the ball, turn, and pass it to someone that can handle it. When he puts the ball on the floor, bad things happen. Period.
  • Fred Brown needs the ball on designed screens. He’s our best pure scorer. Someone set a screen for him and let him launch. Hell, what do we have to lose?
  • Denis is…where? Dude, where you at? 0-4 with no points. You’re one of our scorers, dude. Make it happen.
  • Pullen is 1-5. Come on, man. Hit some shots. We need you too.
  • Oh, and for all of our big men…BLOCK OUT.

As badly as we’ve played, we’re still in this. However, we’ve gotta make a run to start the second. Get Fred open and let him hit a couple of shots. Let’s get this thing down to single digits and make a game out of it.

+1.

I’ll admit it, I doubted you, but damn is Clemente fast.

I’ll stake Sherron’s quicks in the lane, but in terms of running from one free throw line to the other, Clemente is probably the fastest player I’ve ever seen. Damn.

Loss - 87-71

I don’t know what to say. After I compose myself, there will probably be more.

Honestly, I’m not surprised, but this stings. KU is very mediocre this year, and I don’t know what that says about us.

In all seriousness...

quite simply that was a win on a home court, big run to start and then we held you off…we are in a rebuilding year and the game in Manhattan could easily swing the other way. Good game, had fun this week too.

KSU's problem is becoming more clear as we play better competition...

It’s a team of role players (minus a couple of guys) that are playing out of their element right now.

We don’t have enough shooters. We don’t have enough inside players that can play with authority. However, what we do have is a crap ton of athletic guys that can run really, really fast. They play well in transition. But, if forced to play halfcourt offense, they wilt because they don’t have the dynamic scorers to make it work.

Taylor brought it tonight, and I was afraid of that. We knew Collins and Aldrich were going to get theirs. I was telling a buddy today that Taylor was going to be the death of us, and I think that was probably pretty close. Morningstar hit a couple of timely threes as well.

Good banter this week, and as much as it pains me to say it, congrats. Hopefully we return the favor in Manhattan.

I wonder if you might find...

some of those guys are more than role players in time. I would think it is going to take some adjusting for everyone after losing two go to guys in Beasley and Walker. Just from a mentality standpoint I would think it would take some time for anyone to adjust and step up after playing with two focal point players like that.

That was a totally underdeveloped thought on my part...

Yes, I think a couple of them will become really nice players. I think Pullen can be really, really good. I think Samuels can be a star. Brown has it in him to be a very dangerous perimeter player. Think Terry Brown or Boschee (if you want KU references).

However, the rest of the guys aren’t stars. I love, love, love Dom Sutton, but I wonder how much more he can improve. I think he is a defensive specialist that can mix it up inside from the wing, but unless he takes it upon himself to be a scorer, and really become an all-around player, I don’t know what he’ll become.

The rest of the guys are role players asked to be more than that. I think that’s why they are just having trouble turning the corner; we’re shoving some square pegs in round holes.

hmmmm...

after being in their field house for the first time ever tonight, I was really disappointed we started with an 18 point deficit, somehow pulled it within three, but then managed to lose by 16, consistency has been mentioned on here before, but can you get any worse than what we did tonight? Big 12 road games are huge and KSU can’t seem to win many of them over the past couple years, starting to seem like a re-occurring trend.

GO STATE!!!!

by wabasher on Jan 14, 2009 12:44 AM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

The only trend, IMO, is youth

When your upper class leaders are Kent and Colon, you are not going to pull out many road games.

Let’s see what happens when Jake and Fred and Dom and Ron are seniors and Wally and Rodney and Nick and Jordan are sophomores…

Hell even next year we should see drastic improvement.

Man do I hate Longhorn fans, well except for the ones that actually went there.
