Preseason Rankings are in.

PrintThe all important and season defining rankings are now out for your viewing pleasure. On paper I do believe the Dawgs in Athens to be a healthy favorite for the national title game. But then again, who cares right now?
They need to stop doing this. The only solid good thing about the BCS rankings is how they wait the 8 weeks or so before handing out rankings. It hurts "cinderella teams" and magically favors a two loss team to be placed in the NC game because they looked good on paper during the summer.

Agreed on preseason rankings
Georgia is my national title favorite this year. And the idea of ranking teams before they’ve even played a game strikes me as patently absurd. If I ran things, there would be no polls until Week 4.

My thoughts on the initial rankings
Please don’t come back with the “who should be ahead of/behind them.” This is based off where I think the teams will end up, not where they should be ranked preseason. As stated in the previous comment, I don’t think teams should be ranked in the preseason.

4. Oklahoma (agree - maybe slightly overrated)
5. Florida (agree)
6. LSU (overrated)
7. Missouri (agree - maybe slightly underrated)
8. West Virginia (agree)

10. Texas (overrated)
11. Auburn (underrated)
12. Wisconsin (agree)
13. KU (overrated)
14. Texas Tech (underrated)
15. Virginia Tech (overrated)
16. Arizona State (underrated)
17. BYU (overrated)
18. Tennessee (underrated)
19. Illinois (way overrated)
20. Oregon (underrated)
21. South Florida (underrated)
22. Penn State (overrated)
23. Wake Forest (agree)
24. Michigan (overrated)
25. Fresno State (overrated)
Among those receiving votes, here are my thoughts: Alabama should be ranked, Utah could be ranked, how the hell did Pitt get 34 votes, how did Texas A&M get three votes, and how did Colorado only get one vote in light of the teams who got more votes than the Buffs?
There, my thoroughly unscientific and illogical critique of the preseason rankings.

Way too many Big 10 teams in the mix
Ohio State should be ranked, not as high though. Wisconsin yes. After that it’s a crap shoot. Welcome to another year of mediocricy to our neighbors to the north.
