Dalonte Hill's Salary Making Waves
A Rivals.com story about Dalonte Hill's $400,000+ salary currently adorns the front page of Yahoo.com. Not Yahoo! Sports, but Yahoo!'s main page. I know because I just checked my email in class.
I'm not really sure what took them so long to pick up on this. The story notes that the contract became available in May, so it only took a major sports service about five months to discern that Hill makes a whole lot of money. Like, more than some three-man coaching staffs.
Is it money well-spent? In my opinion, yes. Hill delivered Michael Beasley to Manhattan, and next year it appears he will deliver Wally Judge and Rodney McGruder as well. That's a lot of talent, and we can't afford to let that type of recruiter get away from Manhattan.

he basically got paid to bring you the best player in the nation
While I think Hill’s responses in the article are laughable, b/c he is being paid to pimp high school players, not work 12 hr days, I don’t see a problem with KSU paying him that much.
I wouldn’t let him do anymore interviews, though.
If Rivals was really interested in what is going on, they would look at how much high school coaches of top recruits get paid to “assist” in coach’s summer basketball camps at college each year.

We knew this would happen
If not at K-State, then somewhere else. Once the NBA created the new requirement for players to be out of high school for at least one year before entering the draft, the price of recruiting shot up around the NCAA. With players like OJ Mayo, Mike Beasley, and Derrick Rose suddenly being forced to go to college, assistant coaches were suddenly facing more pressure/rewards to land these high talents. While NCAA’s talent level is raised with the influx of these great players, the salaries and compensation for coaches landing these top players rises along with it.
Besides, Mike Beasley coming to K-State brought more than $400,000 worth of pub and attention to the university.

It's gonna get worse if the NBA raises the limit yet again...
There was scuttlebutt during the season that the NBA loves the new rule and wants to make it two years. If so, we’re gonna look like trailblazers.
This is not an occult science. This is not one of those crazy systems of divination and astrology. That stuff's hooey, and you've got to have a screw loose to go in for that sort of thing. Our beliefs are fairly commonplace and simple to understand. Humankind is simply materialized color operating on the 49th vibration. You would make that conclusion walking down the street or going to the store.
