Texas game

I looked up the point spread.  K-State is currently a 15-point underdog at Texas.  That feels good to me.  Though I don't think the Wildcats have the same momentum going into the game as they did last year, I like our chances.  Obviously, a road game has proven a challenge for K-State teams in the past, but Auburn showed the team responded well in a big game environment.  If only, Texas could fill the stadium with apathetic UT basketball fans.

Here's a few things I think K-State needs in order to pull of the upset.

-A special teams touchdown.  I'm sure this is something the coaching staff is building towards, and the special teams has the tools to do so.  Neon Deon.
Continued solid play from the tight ends, until the KSU wide receivers can break open (or until a flea-flicker-reverse-option-pass).
-As much Brent Musburger as possible.  I remember the days when every third sentence from Brent was "Big 12 spring champion, Terrence Newman."
-Constant penetration to rough up Colt, like we did to him last year, and like we did to Brandon Cox.  Texas looks similarly thin at QB.
-Wouldn't mind having Josh Moore back.

Agreed

I kept thinking in the Auburn game we were going to make a play on special teams (blocked punt, big return) to turn the game around.  The play never came, and Auburn made a big play on defense to seal the win.  Deon Murphy needs to make a big return to change field position or take one to the house.

Solid play from the tight ends will be a big help.  I happen to think the receivers won't need that much help against UT.  Texas' linebackers are not especially impressive, and they will probably be forced to cover Jordy Nelson, which is a mismatch in our favor.

We must get pressure on McCoy.  If we let him stand in the pocket, he will pick apart the secondary.

Sounds like there's still a chance Josh Moore will be reinstated (see most recent post).  He's not back yet, but you'll notice in the articles Ron Prince didn't rule it out.

For more of my thoughts on the game, check out Burnt Orange Nation.  PB's post about getting to know K-State and Ron Prince includes a comment from me.
